Political Question:
  • If Healthcare is a right of citizenship in the United States, what other things should the government provide it's citizens? Why stop with healthcare? If the government provided work for us all there would be no need for labor unions. If the government provides our retirement, housing and protection, why not provide our jobs, food and education. The question is where to draw the line. Forget life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness when the government provides all it citizens needs.
  • The false notion is equal access to healthcare will equate to good healthcare and fair access. If the un/under-employed person living in an urban area who does not have a phone to call around to find the doctor who has the shortest wait and best reputation of care or a personal car to drive out to that location as one who might have a cell phone, a car and interest in having better than average care is it not true that they were most likely be waiting in the longest of lines in the most congested of providers that are closest to their known community. Or if someone chronically undermines their own healthcare by smoking, over/under eating, drug and alcohol abuse, or an avoidance of exercise thus complicating their healthcare that they do not pay for, what motivation would they have to take personal responsibility to change if continued care available. It is foolish to assume or promote that the equality of access will mean equality of healthcare provided, even if unjustly provided to those who abuse the care offered.
  • Also, the charge that middle American citizens who are disapproving of the current government, including the president, are radical, racist and demonized and labeled simply because it is politically advantageous to dismiss this group and if they were of a minority culture their civil rights would be considered trampled.
